Meet Karen
Karen Rodriguez is a filmmaker, videographer and cinematographer who founded Wind-Up Pictures in 2018. She previously worked as one of the primary filmmakers for the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, the world’s leading center for research on birds and their habitats.
Karen is the cinematographer on the short documentary, Deciding Vote from Wheelhouse Creative, which premiered at the 2023 Tribeca Film Festival. She is the director of photography for the feature documentary, Elizabeth Bishop and the Art of Losing. She has also designed live streams for many productions at The Cherry Theatre in Ithaca, New York.
Karen is a Fulbright Scholar (2017) and former delegate to the American Documentary Showcase (Poland, 2010). She holds an MFA in film and video production from the University of Iowa Graduate College.
Meet John
John D. Scott is a filmmaker and an associate professor and director of documentary studies and production degree at Ithaca College in New York.
His films have won multiple awards and glowing reviews in the United States and Canada. He is the director of the feature-length documentary, Elizabeth Bishop and the Art of Losing.
John has directed many short films that have played internationally in more than 20 countries. His critically acclaimed feature-length documentary, Scouts are Cancelled, was purchased by the Documentary Channel (2008-2011) and premiered at The Hot Docs Documentary Film Festival in 2007.
